Cost of Philips LifeLine

Philips Lifeline medical alert services cost about $35 per month, and require an activation fee. They do not charge for equipment, and there is no long-term contract. Out of the top 10 medical alert devices, Philips Lifeline comes in at number 10, as far as price, and value are concerned. The one feature Philips Lifeline has that most other companies do not is the fall-detection feature.

Philips Lifeline medical alert services are higher in price than average for medical devices, and services. However, Philips Lifeline provides services that are not available through other companies, such as the fall-detection monitor.

Product Information

The Philips Lifeline medical alert system comes with a base station, a water resistant pendant, and a battery backup supply. The auto-alert option is available which detects falls. These products have an 800 foot range, and auto-tests itself monthly.

Philips LifeLine Reviews

Philips Lifeline has been an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau since 2002. Philips Lifeline is rated an A- with 12 closed complaints in the past year. There have been under 25 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau for problems with product/services. Less than 10 problems were reported with sales/billing issues.

Consumer Reviews

There are not many consumer reports available on Philips Lifeline medical alert systems. However, there were reports listed by the FDA issuing a choking-hazard for neck-pendants, as the cords are not designed to break away from the neck in the event of a fall.

Philips Lifeline issued a re-call on their products, and sent over 750,000 customers devices with a new warning hazard label to minimize the choking hazard.

Users have reported dislikes, such as not enough information available on the company website about the products, and services. The bottom line is, Philips has been in business for many years, and their mission is to promote independent living for peace-of-mind.

If you, or your loved one is at a higher risk for falls, the Philips Lifeline medical alert system may not be your best option. However, the device will call for help when you are not able to. Talk to your doctor to determine if a fall-detection device is the best option for you.

My dad died about a year ago and my brother and I were worried about my mom living by herself. My mom is on all kinds of medication and sometimes she gets dizzy and falls down. We purchased a Phlips life line alert for my mom and she has used it on multiple occasions. It has the fall detection technology so it knows she has fallen before she pushes the button.

When I push my emergency button I want to speak to someone who understands me and who I can understand as well! The person that answered my call was from some other different country and I could not understand a word of which he was saying. This is very frustrating when you live in the US, and are in an emergency situation.

The fall detection feature is why I decided to get a Philips product. I had knee surgery a few years ago, and I fall frequently because my knees give out. I don’t like the fact there was an activation fee and there is no wall mounted button.
