The Jitterbug Touch 2 from GreatCall uses a simplified interface, and features several preloaded medical apps making it a great starter smartphone for the senior market.
The Jitterbug Touch 2 has been designed for seniors using the Android operating system with a simplified interface, making it a great introductory phone for people who have never used a smartphone before. A four inch display reproduces colors fairly accurately and the text has been made large and easy to read. Two tabs on the screen separate your apps from your contacts. Select one tab to use any apps that you wish to use, or the other tab to make calls, send texts or do other things like listen to voicemail. An urgent response service is available as well as preloaded medical apps, making this phone an ideal choice for senior citizens or people with special needs.
The Jitterbug Touch 2 features all of the things you'd expect from a smartphone including front and back cameras, Bluetooth connectivity, email and internet access, ability to download apps and of course basic call and text functions. What really separates this phone though is the 5Star urgent response service and the medical applications which come preloaded. You can download these apps and services with other phones, but they are bundled with this phone and the data plan which in the long run saves you money. The 5Star service will put you in touch directly with an agent who can offer assistance, dispatch emergency services or call your emergency contacts if the need arises. The medical apps include MedCoach and Urgent Care which allow you to do things like schedule medicine reminders, access your drug database to add your prescription to your list, look up symptoms for illnesses, contact nurses and doctors who are able to diagnose and prescribe medications over the phone as well as other useful features.
The Jitterbug Touch 2 isn't one of the greatest Android phones on the market, but is perfect for what is intended which is as a smartphone tool for seniors. It also isn't as easy to use as an older style flip phone. All in all though, this phone is simple as smartphones go, and it will allow you to connect with family and friends, interact by using the apps they use and keep yourself safer by way of the services that it can offer.

HAPPY TO HAVE IT
I'M VERY HAPPY TO HAVE THIS PHONE. IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT SOMEONE CAME OUT WITH A SMART PHONE FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T CARE FOR SMARTPHONES.
THE SCREEN IS VERY EASY TO READ AND THE VOLUME IS GREAT. I LOVE THE EMERGENCY BUTTON ON THE PHONE, BECAUSE I DON'T NEED ONE OF THOSE EXPENSIVE MEDICAL ALERT PLANS THAT EVERYONE ELSE GETS. I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO UNLOCK THE PHONE TO ACTIVATE THE EMERGENCY SERVICE.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS.... IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SMARTPHONE BUT DONT NEED ONE OF THOSE EXPENSIVE ONES, YOU SHOULD LOOK AT THIS. I'M VERY HAPPY WITH IT.
Simple to use, but slow
It is a simpler smartphone, but slower than what I expected. The screens can lag from one frame to the next making it frustrating when you're clicking more than once only to find that you've clicked on something that had not popped up yet.
