I can't speak for the lifespan of the bath lift, as I just received it. However, I can tell you that it appears to be very well constructed.
After spending nearly two months trying to figure out what to do, this bath lift was my first major purchase in the safety battle for my husband. He's got Alzheimer's and getting him to take a bath has always been a problem. Now it's on to other safety precautions!
First off, this bath lift has changed my mothers life. She hadn't taken a bath in at least 15 years. It is amazing how much better a person can feel by simply being able to rest in a bath with nice hot water. We did discover than she needed a new water heater though! :)
After seeing how much she enjoyed it, I ended up buying one for myself. They're pretty affordable when you compare them to the price of other options (walk-in tubs, showers, etc...) which was what I was originally looking at. I'm so happy I bought it! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I would've given this five stars if it came with what was pictured. I thought I was getting a bath lift with the grey or blue pads, but it doesn't have any with it. It's not mentioned in the owners manual either. I guess you have to buy these separate?
First impression was that it was very well constructed. Installation wasn't too bad, other than trying to get it straight in our bathtub. The only major problem I can foresee is our textured bathtub floor.
It's a little expensive, but worth it when you get to take a bath again. It had been about 3 years since the last time I was able to get into my bath tub. I would much rather have a nice long bath than a shower anytime.
